Mahicantuck is a Native American name for The Hudson River.
It's meaning is "great waters in constant motion" or "river that flows two ways".
This was painted at the New Burgh Waterfront.
This is a tiny watercolor painting, 2" x 3". Although it is small it has a great presence. As everyone was painting mountains, I heard singing. I turned around and saw the heads of the berry pickers through the bushes. I immediately started painting!
This painting was created during the "3rd Annual Artists on Historic Huguenot Street", an all day plein air event in New Paltz. Over 20 Hudson Valley artists participated. We had a great time and a beautiful day!
