Dalias And Pears

Going through all of my 2015 paintings and discovered this!  I tend to forget about my oil paintings as I keep them in the barn.  This painting has a new year feel to it!

La mariposa, the butterfly is a symbol of transformation.  As we end this year and start 2016 we are in a process of change.  Now is the time to tie up all loose ends!

This is a mixed media painting that embodies the vibration of the stone UNAKITE JASPER.  It is a gentle healing stone.  The pink and green colors are associated with the heart.

Supreme Unity

Supreme Unity is an acupuncture point in the stomach channel.  It is where heaven and earth are divided.  This point helps separate the clear and the turbid.

Soaring Upwards

The bird is soaring upwards.  She will rise to new heights.  Nothing will stop her.

Today's weather cooperated for Plein Air painting in Woodstock, NY. 
 This is an oil painting on an aluminum sanded sheet. 
 I used a variety of pallet knives and lots of pigment!

July in Easton

Today's weather reminds me of this painting.  Summer from a child's perspective: carefree, timeless, and magical.  This is October and  I love it!

Energia Femminile

Feminine energy is mystical and magical. Her cycle is in harmony with the moon. She is wise, intuitive, creative, and nurturing.

Harmony

Creating collage is the process of putting together combinations of elements that can exist as a whole.  The various components must have a flow or energy which can exist together. 
 When this happens harmony is achieved.

Soulmates

When they find each other they feel complete.  They are unified. 

 They have an unspoken understanding.

The Awesome Power Of

I am having fun recycling old books and incorporating them into collages.

  I am a big fan of putting all things to good use. 

 This system seems to create a harmony in my environment.

Truth

Pieces of old paintings become something new. 
 I like to do collage when I feel change is near.  

It is very much like quilting.

October Storm

Yesterday I participated in The Rye Arts Center Plein Air Event.   It was very windy and cold but somehow I managed to complete this painting. There is something invigorating about the sea!

Summer Reflections

A time of warm weather, long days, and orange creamsicles. Lasting memories can be transformed into autumn colors.  The vibrations of these colors can warm our souls during the coming winter.

Out of the Blue

She appears out of the blue.  She is unexpected but welcome.

Her hue lies between green and indigo.

Summer Possibilities

There is a sense of timelessness, beauty, and perfection.  Does it have to end? The images we record on surfaces, or in our imaginations are reminders that anything is possible.

Since summer is winding down, I needed to paint my favorite tree.  I have come to know this tree and it's habits in each season. This is an 8 x 10 oil on glass painting.

This is another oil on glass.  I'm having lots of fun seeing the outcome.  This reverse painting process really plays tricks on your brain!

Summer in the Hudson Valley

Here is another Reverse Glass Painting.  I am fascinated by this process.  I see similarities between painting on glass and working with encaustics.

The Aura

Here is another mixed media painting.  I add and subtract layers creating texture.  The paint is poured which causes the merging of colors.

Clarity

This is a mixed media abstract painting.  I usually put one day aside just to work on these types of paintings.  I do not plan the outcome, often I feel as though I am being guided in the process.

Rejuvinating Still Life

Lately I have been experimenting with reverse glass painting.  This is a still life painted in oil.  I have discovered that the foreground must be painted first!

The Bake Sale

This painting was created during the "3rd Annual Artists on Historic Huguenot Street", an all day plein air event in New Paltz.  Over 20 Hudson Valley artists participated.  We had a great time and a beautiful day!
